This was our second Darwin visit we have made with More Than A Room and Suzanne, our first in January 2018, staying at The Lookout luxury apartment which was fabulous. It was pre-booked for our most recent Darwin Xmas stay so selected Mandalay on The Esplanade, a very convenient location to the city, supermarkets and the harbour eateries. Mandalay is like stepping back into Colonial days with stone walls, rich timber flooring and matching furniture, right down to the timber inside shutters on the double doors in case of that Christmas cyclone. There’s was everything you could ever want provided in the kitchen, plus books and games in the living areas, flat screen tvs in every bedroom and the lounge. The welcoming hamper was very much appreciated, especially the ice cold bottle of white wine after we had unpacked. There were supplies for an initial meal so you did not have to head out to do the shopping upon arrival. Wonderful location opposite the parkland on The Esplanade plus the harbour beyond. We could sit on the upper floor balcony and watch the sunset or the arrival of several cruise ships heading into Darwin. Mandalay is one of four similar buildings surrounding a lovely swimming pool. There was another couple staying in what we assumed was a two bedroom similar stone building but hardly saw them. There were six of us staying in the three bedroom accommodation and we had heaps of room to move about. Good areas to ‘get away’ if you wished. We had the pool to ourselves 99% of the time….and being just inside the property, passing pedestrians looked with envy to see us in the water during what has been a bad build-up to the Wet season. We thoroughly recommend this stay and will be heading back. For interest sake, the Lookout luxury accommodations is a penthouse unit and also on our list is a top place to stay. Only need to make a lift ride to the beautiful pool. But the Mandalay is great…plus off street parking for two cars in the carport. Thank you Suzanne..great Xmas holiday. Barry and family
